The Lore of the North Empty
PostSubject: The Lore of the North   The Lore of the North EmptyWed May 31, 2017 9:19 pm

In the North, the snow is always falling, and it is always wintertime.

The North is the only continent out of the known lands to have runes, and it is because of this that it remained inhabited. The people of the North are a strong group, and often seen as more tribal and wild than anywhere else. Almost all wear thick furs to keep out the biting cold, many are hunters, as it is very difficult for crops to grow there.

For many generations now, the North has been a territory of the Western Kingdom, and many of its population are either colonists, or have ancestors that were. The few that have direct Northern descent are seen as even more wild and beast-like than the rest. All see this as beneficial, as the West ships over food and supplies, in return for runes, and part of the profit that the runes bring in.

Aside from no farmers, the North has typical occupations, such as smithing, boat-making, and fishing. However, the one job it has that can be found nowhere else is that of rune chaser. It is a rune chasers duty to cross the River of Runes, and bring back as many runes as they can.

The North has only one settlement, which lies directly on the beach, known as the dockland. There are a few scare tents in a clearing where the Northerners once lived, and on occasion, people sleep inside of the crumbling fortress - ruminants from when the West was at war with the North.

The wilderness of the North is almost entirely evergreens, inhabited by vicious wolves. There are large arctic herbavores for the wolves to eat, such as caribou, but the only stories one will hear when in the North is of the wolves.
