The Lore of the North East Empty
PostSubject: The Lore of the North East   The Lore of the North East EmptyWed May 31, 2017 9:15 pm

The North Eastern Isle is the smallest geographically and in population out of all the known lands. Despite this, it is also rumored to have the bravest warriors in all of history.

The North East is generally ruled by a council of six; three men, and three women. These men and women are elected based off their similarities to certain gods, whom the North East believe in, and once chosen, their names are changed to those gods, and they lose any surname. The other lands often find it a strange, and sometimes silly, method, but it has consistently worked for the North East, and so they continue the tradition.

Much of the North East is taken up by the Lake of Warriors: the largest body of water in the known lands, aside from the ocean. This lake is relied on heavily for survival, as it gives many fish each year, and provides good irrigation for crops, but the population fears to sail to the center. Just as every other land, this lake has many stories of creatures that swim beneath its surface. The Highlands of the North East also have a similar reputation, and while many farmers use the foothills to herd and graze livestock, none venture deep into the earthen peaks.

The North East commonly trades with the village of Matu, of the East, and occasionally trades with the North, however, the waters between the North and the North East are dangerous, and have frequent storms, along with icebergs, which dissuade constant commerce.

Just like the South East, the North East is often looked to for mercenaries, however, the rulers are more forgiving than the South East. Mercenary work is frowned upon, but not punishable by exile, and mercenaries are accepted back if they do leave. Due to the taboo around the occupation, many do not choose to take it on, and many generations can go by without seeing if they live up to their legendary titles.
