Claiming Power

It had been some time since his journey to the hills, and A. B. felt wonderful. His wounds had healed, and he finally felt at peace with his past, the ghost of his childhood no longer hanging over him like a boulder about to crash down upon a weary traveler. This great feeling of exuberance radiated from him like light radiates from the sun, so that he felt as if he could do anything.  Hell, what's stopping me? Throw caution to the wind. Carpe Diem and all that. With these thoughts, A. B. strode confidently into the stronghold of Lake Town, into the throne room, and plopped his mighty frame down onto the throne. Immediately he drew attention, not just because of his large frame, but because he had simply proclaimed himself king in the North-East without so much as a word. A flustered hedge knight approached A. B., seemingly opposed to his claim.

"Wait just one second here, what right do you have to be king, huh?"

A. B. smiled at the naivety of the knight, and, in keeping with his habit of saying very little, offered a simple explanation to the hedge knight:  "I'm on the Brute Squad." As he said so, A. B. took a woefully small (for him) goblet from the arm of the throne and closed his fist around it, smiling his small smile the whole time through. When he opened his fist, the goblet was hardly a goblet any more, and more of a piece of new-age art, something connoisseurs would pay thousands of gold pieces for. Horrified, the hedge knight looked from the squashed goblet to A. B.'s face, the frightened expression never leaving his face. "You ARE the brute squad!", he exclaimed, before fleeing the room as fast as his armored legs would carry him. This would be a fun job. Raising his voice, A. B. made his first decree as king  "Where is the carpenter, I think I will need a bigger throne." People scattered in a hurry to find the carpenter, A. B.'s smile shining over them all. This would indeed be a fun job.
