Physical: 5'9", 175 lbs, brown shoulder-length hair with light blue eyes that change shade very slightly depending on current emotional state, broad shoulders, and a short, well trimmed red-brown beard.  He has a thin, faint scar just to the outside of his right eye, fading into his beard an inch below the corner of the eye.  He looks to be in good physical shape, but lacks the corded muscle of other warriors.
Mental: Cadfael Ken'ill is a shrewd tactician with a dream of greatness.  While he is not tyrannical or condescending, he aims for dominion. He is, by and far, aloof and cautious.  While he may be slow to trust, he will stand by an ally whole-heartedly.  He tends to be outgoing but gives away little of value.  While he despises law, he understands its usefulness and yields to it when his morality does not contradict it.
Background: Cadfael Ken'ill was born in the East, and lost his family to battle.  He escaped, though his older brother was killed in the fighting and his parents were killed in a raid.  As he escaped, he forsook his given name, taking the name Cadfael, "battle prince", and a vow to never again be helpless and let his friends and family be taken from him.  He went to study in the West, learning what he could of weaponry and tactics.  His goal is to return to the East and unite it under a single rule.
